Two Postdoctoral positions are available in our laboratory at UC Davis to study the pathophysiological mechanisms of mitochondrial disease.

Although we are interested in all mitochondrial diseases, we are specifically focused on Friedreich's ataxia, Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy, and Chronic Progressive External Opthalmoplegia/KSS.

1 POSTDOC in Bio-chemistry (100%, multi-yr). Expertise in enzyme assays, protein purification & modification, co-immunoprecipitation, Western blots, etc., to study the biochemical mechanisms of human mitochondrial disease.

1 POSTDOC in Molecular Biology (100%, multi-yr). Expertise in cloning & siRNA & transfection to study human mitochondrial genetic disease using microarray & RT-PCR.

Our main focus is to investigate the mechanisms of mitochondrial pathophysiology, both in disease-relevant target tissues, i.e. muscle and neural cell types, and in patient-derived cells. Some recent publications are listed at http://Cortopassilab.ucdavis.edu

Our site, the University of California at Davis, is a pleasant, safe, bicycle-friendly, family-oriented University town in the Central Valley of California, 15 minutes from Sacramento, 1.5 hours from San Francisco and 2 hours from the Sierra Nevada.
